Description
This is a seven-foot square crazy quilt I made using extra items from my Girl Scout collection. I consider it to be a low-relief, mixed media sculpture.
From the mid 1950's to the early 1970's there was a boom in membership.
This uses actual Girl Scout sashes complete with pins and ribbons; I have soft-sculpted 16 little troopers to 'wear' vintage 8" doll uniforms; the front of uniform dresses; and both Brownie and Intermediate/Junior ties...and so many more artifacts.
The quilt has been on display at Girl Scout First Headquarters, Lake Mary Museum, and both in between and currently is on loan to Girl Scouts of Citrus Council and exhibited in their Women's History Center at Citrus.
If you were a Girl Scout during these years, or knows someone who was, this quilt is full of memories.
