A rare self-portrait. Unlike Rembrandt, I am not a fan of painting myself. Yet, every once in a while, a moment occurs that I feel the need to paint.
My son-in-law took a photo of me on a street art set-up in West Aurora, NY.
Normally, I neither pose for pictures nor like the results, but this one tickled my funny bone.
Of course, I did tweak the design, colors, knock a few holes in the wall...and added a bemused pigeon that certainly is sure I CAN'T fly!
The original is on a 20" x 16" oval canvas.
I am just an old grandmother soul that has been creating since I first got a chubby baby fist on a crayon. For decades, I have worked in a variety of media, in many sizes, and in several themes. Some may reoccur and occasionally mingle with others. My artwork sprawls from impressionist over to, but never reaching, absolute realism. It reflects my life, mental state and interests. I adore dramatic color and very often lean towards a blue/orange dynamic. Skies are rarely calm, buildings should look old and lived in, and people should make you wish you could meet them.
