Artist's Description
This is difficult to categorize. On our hangar, I recreated 6 vintage aviation posters as ceramic relief. Under the trim, I have painted a garden. In this case, poppies, to go with this particular poster.
To all who serve and have served:
In Flanders Fields
BY JOHN MCCRAE
In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.
We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie,
In Flanders fields.
Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields.

Some may reoccur and occasionally mingle with others. My artwork sprawls from impressionist over to, but never reaching, absolute realism. It reflects my life, mental state and interests. I adore dramatic color and very often lean towards a blue/orange dynamic. Skies are rarely calm, buildings should look old and lived in, and people should make you wish you could meet them. I don't exactly have a 'chosen art form'. I began with hand-built figures, added watercolors, then acrylics. Along the way, I have tried marble, bronze-casting... I...

Merana, Wonderful mixed media vertical... It'd be awesome if you're inspired to add 1 more image to transform into a new wide format vertical triptych (ideal size 30x10) that is also a new Memorial tribute work. If you take the challenge, submit the wide image to the WFPPP group! Thx for sharing this inspiring tribute in the Wide Memorial Honor American show. GJ

This is part of a triptych of ceramic reproductions of vintage aviation posters. I simply haven't a good enough image to upload. Thank you for the thought
