Artist's Description

Telfair Square, Savannah, Georgia

Initially laid out in 1733 as St. James Square, it was renamed in 1883. to salute Edward Telfair and his family. They were immigrants from Scotland who substantially contributed to the city's cultural and economic growth.

A logo for the Girl Scouts of the United States is represented by a low granite sculpture.

Due to the tile facades of the buildings fronting the square, it is sometimes referred to by locals as the "bathtub" square. The only splashes of color are two other sculptures on the sidewalk, which bear the irreverent nicknames of the "bath brush" and the "plunger"!
