Artist's Description
Johnson Square is the oldest and largest in Savannah. Named for Robert Johnson, colonial governor of South Carolina, It was the community center in Colonial times.
The grand obelisk dominating the center is tribute to General Nathanael Green, from RI, but called the 'savior of the South'.
It features 2 bronze bas-relief tablets, one for Greene, and one for Casimir Pulaski.
A sundial in the square honors Colonel William Bull, who surveyed and plotted the original city grid, and a bench is dedicated to composer Johnny Mercer.

About Merana Cadorette

I am just an old grandmother soul that has been creating since I first got a chubby baby fist on a crayon. For decades, I have worked in a variety of media, in many sizes, and in several themes. I adore dramatic color and very often lean towards a blue/orange dynamic. Skies are rarely calm, buildings should look old and lived in, and people should make you wish you could meet them. I don't exactly have a 'chosen art form'. I began with hand-built figures, added watercolors, then acrylics. Along the way, I have tried marble, bronze-casting... I...
