Description
Looking at man's early attempts to fly, one often wonders how they came up with those ideas. This is a painting and a poem I made for one brave/crazy would be airman.
In a faded photograph, he is famed:
M’sieur Givaudan, mustache untamed!
Used a Vermorel engine for his design
Art Nouveau, Nineteen oh nine!
To be a French aviator was a feat;
So he built his craft, toute de suite.
Did calvados give this strange idea
To put celled doughnuts, front and rear?
The front end avec joint universal could wiggle,
But the fixed rear end, il ne a pas de jiggle!
For Gallic uniqueness we may tout it...
Did it rise off the earth? We sure doubt it!
