Artist's Description

One of the gates featured in my book "Gates of Savannah" (History Press).
Gate fronts on Bull
Wayne-Gordon House (Juliette Gordon Low’s birthplace)
While there are more famous gates created by Juliette Low herself, this anonymously made
one has a simple elegance. It is very tall and narrow, giving the passerby a glimpse into the
elegant back garden and sculptures inside. Currently, troops signed-up for tours or
programs enter here, making it a Girl Scout’s first glimpse into where their Founder played
as a child. Lover of animals that she was, I think she would particularly like the horse-head
hitching post patiently enjoying the attention of the eager girls awaiting admission.

I adore dramatic color and very often lean towards a blue/orange dynamic. Skies are rarely calm, buildings should look old and lived in, and people should make you wish you could meet them. I don't exactly have a 'chosen art form'. I began with hand-built figures, added watercolors, then acrylics. Along the way, I have tried marble, bronze-casting... I...
